How do you know what you want for life?

A friend with a familiar question

It maybe true that most of don’t know what we really want out of life. it was also the same case if you asked me 10 years ago.

I was just chatting with a friend who had just resigned,

She came to me and said I finally quit my job!

oh okay, but why did you quit your job at the first place?

Oh i got bored and my manager didn’t like me

oh what are you going to to do next?

Maybe find a job that is closer to my house with less work to do

but does that really make you happier

Yeah. i can do the things i want and i can by more stuff i wanted.

So, having more money and less work make you more happier?

Yeah. isnt it obvious ?

Well to me that’s material procession and that’s not going to make me more happier. but what do you really want out of life?

mmm.. im not so sure

Progress of How

it seemed confused for a second that she already have a plenty of skills on capable of , but she doesn’t know what she really wanted. It crossed my mind that it was just the same case as I was 10 years ago. Perhaps many of us have stumbled as the same way as life goes.

I wanted to share the way that I have learnt so far for life on what I really want (for now) and how to arrive or to be more certain with life. So I jot down few notes that kept me going from where I started and I was overwhelmed on the information on the internet around the same topic, however none of them I found it quite to be true to myself.

I am not saying that I am the only correct answer. Instead, I am trying to say, everyone is different, so there is no universal rule for everybody to find exactly what they really wanted. Yet, it took me 10 years to figure the pattern of knowing how to find what you want.

This is actually the progress of how to know what i want.

Suffering is my greatest gift

I found a pattern for myself on evolving every time life is throwing me hard ball. It is something bad or pain happened it kept me going; where I learnt more by reading and writing down the things.

I believe it doesn’t require you to spend 10 years to find out how you really wanted. if this could help you to see

If i could tell myself 10 years ago, that would be suffering is what really got me here today.

Suffering is your greatest gift.

It is okay to have doubts to life. It’s okay to experience breakups because at the end life is a journey that we are keep moving forward. By the end of day, what you really have achieved, experienced will be your life.

Advises on How to find what you want

These are notes to myself. These are the advice that I have extraverted out for the past decade and it is the secret of know what i want for my life.

Please feel free to reframe it.

  1. You need to find why of everything instead of what, this is the first principle of life
  2. You need to be mindful and not to believe every thoughts you have, where I maybe wrong
  3. You need have your own definition on success and happiness
  4. You need to give not receive. Love is a example of give not received.
  5. You need to focus and only do one thing at a time, that’s what Charlie Munger taught me
  6. You need to be patient, as Buffett used to a birth of a child requires 10 months
  7. You need to have hope, when something bad happened, we can dance in the rain
  8. You need to accept, reality it’s just another word for lifesucks.
  9. You need to be honest with yourself, the easiest person to fool is yourself
  10. You need to be curious, on what really got your attention and use that to keep going
  11. You need keep reading to solve all your problem.
  12. You need to keep writing, its the only skill that can make you master at something
  13. You need to keep journaling, to jot down things in your mind so to be creative
  14. You need to begin with end in mind, to know where you are going next.
  15. You need to know where you are now, so you know how to arrive your destination
  16. You need to have a growth mind set, so every difficulty is an opportunity
  17. You need both psychical and mental health to carry all the above moving forward.

Health, love, and your mission, in that order. Nothing else matters.
